I know, I know the internet is full of lifestyle bloggers talking about their travel adventure, favorite restaurants, and some “life changing” yoga retreat they went on. Some of them are truly great sources of information, entertainment, and inspiration. Many are not.
I make no claims to greatness, but there is one thing I know I have to offer the blogging world that is a little different. I am legally blind and my day-to-day experiences; how I travel, approach fashion and beauty, how I interact with strangers, and my perspective on life are all impacted by my limited vision.
Sometimes the impact is big. For example, I can’t drive a car and am totally reliant on public transportation. Most things I have learned to minimize the impact of through a smile and nod or the assistance of my iPhone. Oftentimes, I don’t realize I’m doing something differently. I’ve been legally blind since birth and, at this point, I am not always conscious of how I adapt.

What does it mean to be legally blind?
When people discover that I am visually limited they are instantly curious about how my eyesight compares to theirs. I’ve tried so many times to describe my sight, but it’s just not possible. I have no frame of reference. Instead, I have found that concrete examples of the ways in which I struggle and adapt are the best way to help people understand.
Not everything I post will talk about how my vision impacts my life. I’m also doing this because I enjoy these topics and wanted an outlet. Some posts will just be about how to style a new pair of shoes or my favorite restaurant in Istanbul.
If you ever have a specific question, please send it to me. Because I live with this I am not always sure what people want to know about it. I can’t promise a great answer, but I will try my best.
Thanks for reading!
